The TFOS Govering Board welcomes the submission of abstracts to this International Conference. These abstracts, which should be submitted no later than May 30, 2007, will be selected for either oral or poster presentation by the Organization & Program Committee. First authors will be notified of the form of their presentation by July 16, 2007.






  • Type single-spaced abstracts in English. Abstracts will be reproduced exactly as submitted for inclusion in an Abstract Book, which will be presented to all registered participants of the Conference.

  • The abstract limit (including title, authors, institutions, line, text & sponsors) will be 2,350 characters with spaces. Such a limit should permit approximately 345 words and 2,000 characters without spaces.

  • Type the title in capital letters.

  • Underline the name of the presenting author.

  • List institutional affiliations.

  • Skip one line; begin typing the abstract flush left and include the following boldfaced and underlined headings: Purpose, Methods, Results and Conclusions

  • The font should be 12 point Times, no more, no less. If using symbols and/or superscript please refer to the instructions on the abstract submission page.

  • Do NOT include figures.

  • Disclose commercial relationships and identify grant support at the bottom of the abstract.

    Members of the Organization & Program Committee will review all abstracts submitted by registered participants and will assign these abstracts for either oral or poster presentations. A Committee Representative will notify participants of the type (oral or poster), date and time of their presentation by July 16, 2007.




    Conference Oral and Poster Session Formats: Scientific platform sessions will be introduced by 'state of the art,' keynote addresses and followed by a series of oral presentations and a discussion period. Conference room facilities will include projection capability for PowerPoint presentations. Posters will be displayed throughout a designated day and presented by individuals during specific time intervals. Posters will also be discussed during a general Conference session in the afternoon.




    Taormina 2007 Conference Travel Award Program

    The purpose of this Award Program is to provide partial travel support to 15 young investigators, who demonstrate significant achievements in the field of tear film and ocular surface research. The amount of the award will be $1,500 (USD) and will be accompanied by a reimbursement of the registration and banquet fees as well as a complimentary TFOS Membership.

    To apply for this Award an applicant must be the abstract's first author, as well as a student, or a postdoctoral fellow, or an individual under the age of 35 years. In addition, the applicant must register for the conference and submit an abstract by May 30, 2007.

    If the applicant's abstract is accepted, his/her abstract will be evaluated by members of the Travel Award Committee. The applicant must be present at the Conference to be eligible for a grant. Awardees will be notified by July 16th and they will be announced at the Conference.
