International Dry Eye WorkShop: Updates
The Dry Eye WorkShop (DEWS) was an international workshop convened to review critically the classification, epidemiology, diagnosis, basic and clinical research, management and therapy, and clinical trial methodology of dry eye disease. The DEWS report, which required the efforts of over 70 people for several years, was published in The Ocular Surface in 2007 and is available in multiple languages at www.TearFilm.org. This session will feature recent advances in all DEWS topics.

Reports from the International Workshop on Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD)
The International Workshop on Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD) was designed to: [a] conduct an evidence-based evaluation of meibomian gland structure and function in health and disease;
[b] develop a contemporary understanding of the definition and classification of MGD;
[c] assess methods of diagnosis, evaluation and grading of severity of MGD;
[d] develop appropriate norms of clinical trial design to evaluate pharmaceutical interventions for the treatment of MGD; and [e] develop recommendations for the management and therapy of MGD. More information about this Workshop, which is currently ongoing, may be found at http://www.tearfilm.org/
