Alejandro Navas, MD, PhD, received his medical degree from Panamerican University. He completed his residency in Ophthalmology and a fellowship in Cornea & Refractive Surgery at the Institute of Ophthalmology “Conde de Valenciana” in Mexico City, Mexico. He then pursued a research fellowship at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York, USA. He obtained his doctoral degree from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). He has received several awards and honors, including the Senior Achievement Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology and membership in the Mexican National System of Researchers (SNI Level II) of the National Council of Science, Technology and Humanities (CONAHCYT). He helded the position of Residency Program Director and is currently Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at the Institute of Ophthalmology “Conde de Valenciana,” UNAM. He is a former Editor-in-Chief of the Revista Mexicana de Oftalmología and has served as a reviewer for several journals, including Investigative Ophthalmology & Visual Science, Journal of Cataract & Refractive Surgery, Cornea (The Journal of Cornea and External Disease), The Ocular Surface, among others. He is a Member-With-Thesis of The Cornea Society and was recently appointed Editor-in-Chief of The Pan-American Journal of Ophthalmology.
