Dr. Cem Simsek is a distinguished ophthalmologist whose career is dedicated to advancing the understanding and treatment of complex ocular surface and anterior segment diseases. His significant body of research, particularly in the realms of innovative approaches to dry eye disease (DED), corneal cross-linking (CXL) for keratoconus and the management of keratitis. Furthermore, Dr. Simsek has a keen research interest in the comparative analysis of new corneal imaging technologies, such as confocal microscopy and Scheimpflug tomography, and their role in the early detection and monitoring of keratoconus, demonstrating his focus on proactive and precise diagnosis. As an active contributor to the global ophthalmic community, Dr. Simsek’s work aligns seamlessly with the mission of the Tear Film & Ocular Surface Society (TFOS).

Latin American TFOS Ambassador Meeting

TFOS has organized a special meeting of the Latin American TFOS Ambassadors. This meeting, which will occur in Panama City this May, has two goals: first, to address the unmet needs for the management (e.g. diagnosis & treatment) of ocular surface diseases in their country/region, as well as what the Ambassadors perceive as short and long term scientific/clinical solutions; and second, to create a report for publication in a peer-reviewed journal.
