Conor C. Murphy
Conor Murphy is the Chair and Professor of Ophthalmology at the RCSI School of Medicine and a consultant ophthalmic surgeon at the Royal Victoria Eye and Ear Hospital in Dublin, Ireland. He specializes in uveitis and cornea/external eye disease, providing a national referral service in these areas. He heads the Ocular Immunology Research Group at RCSI, which is focused on Sjögren’s syndrome related dry eye disease research, corneal transplantation, and spondyloarthropathy-associated uveitis. He has published widely in the peer-reviewed literature and over the past 3 years he has received research funding of over €600,000 from the Irish Health Research Board, the Irish College of Ophthalmologists, and the European Commission through a 2014 EU FP7 grant award investigating the mechanisms of corneal transplant survival and rejection. As the post-graduate Chair of Ophthalmology, Professor Murphy is also the Chief Examiner of the postgraduate MRCSI and FRCSI examinations in ophthalmology in Ireland.
