Edoardo Villani
Edoardo Villani is a physician, mentor, and scientist. Dr. Villani completed his residency in ophthalmology at University of Milan, Italy, where he is currently an Assistant Professor. His clinical and surgical work focuses on ocular surface and anterior segment diseases in adults and pediatric patients. Dr. Villani devotes a significant amount of time towards education and teaching, both in the clinical and research domain. This includes formal teaching, training, serving as supervisor of medical and orthoptic students, and residents in ophthalmology. Professor Villani's research interests include several aspects of the ocular surface in adults and children, from physiopathology to in vivo imaging, towards the development and validation of new biomarkers. He is the author of more than 40 peer-reviewed full-length research papers, Editorial Board Member of Investigative Ophthalmology and Visual Science and Section Editor (Ocular Surface and Corneal Infections) of International Ophthalmology, and a Member of several international scientific societies. Dr.Villani is mostly involved in ARVO (from the organization of Special Interest Groups to various committee services) and the Tear Film & Ocular Surface Society (TFOS), as an Ambassador for Italy as well as a member of the TFOS International Workshop on Contact Lens Discomfort and the TFOS DEWS II.
