Guillermo Tapia-Herrera
Guillermo Tapia received his Medical Degree from the University of Costa Rica´s Medical School followed by ophthalmology training at the Social Security residency program at CCSS Hospital Mexico/CCSS Ophthalmology Clinic. He then moved to Mexico City to complete a Cornea and Refractive Surgery fellowship at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), Institute of Ophthalmology Conde de Valenciana. Dr. Tapia owns and operates OftalmoCIMA Clinic, one of Costa Rica´s main private ophthalmology facilities. He focuses on cornea and refractive surgery, the ocular surface as well as the anterior segment, both clinically and surgically. Dr. Tapia also works in Costa Rica´s Social Security System where he is the coordinator of the Cornea and Ocular Surface course for the one national Ophthalmology residency program of the University of Costa Rica. He regularly participates as a speaker in national and international meetings as well as in surgical training courses. He lives in San José, Costa Rica with his wife and two daughters, and enjoys outdoor fitness activities, history related literature and traveling with family and friends.
