Jose Salgado Borges
José Salgado-Borges is currently the Coordinator of the Ophthalmology Department at the Private Hospital of Boa Nova in Portugal, and Director of the Prof. J. Salgado-Borges Clinic. He graduated with a Doctor of Medicine from the Medical School of Porto, completed a two-year Fellowship at the University of Illinois at Chicago (USA), and obtained his PhD degree at the Faculty of Medicine of Porto in Ophthalmology. Dr. Salgado-Borges inaugurated the first Integrated Dry Eye Center in Portugal in 2017. He has been invited Professor at the University Fernando Pessoa since 2005, and his main medical interests include ocular surface diseases, tomography and biomechanics of the cornea and anterior segment, keratoconus (diagnosis and treatment), and quality of vision after cataract and refractive surgery. His main surgical field of interest is anterior segment (cataract surgery and cornea/refractive) surgery. Over the last 20 years, Dr. Salgado-Borges performed over 2,000 refractive procedures, approximately 800 corneal transplants and approximately 11,000 cataract and glaucoma surgeries. He is a reviewer of 6 International journals, received 27 national and international awards, performed numerous oral, poster and videos presentations, with 785 pieces at national and international scientific meetings. Dr. Salgado-Borges participated as a speaker or moderator at 81 courses and seminars, and published 150 scientific articles, 36 of which were published in indexed international journals (12 as first author).
