Liat Gantz
Dr. Liat Gantz is a clinician-scientist, senior lecturer, and researcher at Jerusalem Multidisciplinary College (JMC, formerly Hadassah Academic College, Israel). She holds a Bachelors of Optometry and a minor BSc in computer science from Bar Ilan University, Israel, a PhD in vision science in the field of psychophysics of depth perception from the University of Houston College of Optometry (UHCO, TX, USA) in 2009, followed by a post doc in the field of clinical electrophysiology at UHCO and another post doc in the field of psychophysics of depth perception at Bar Ilan University. Thus, Dr. Gantz combines basic science with translational clinical research.
Dr. Gantz served as the Director of the Israeli and International Master of Optometry & Vision Science (M.Optom) Programs between 2014-2025. Currently she is the Director of Research and Development Unit and the Head of Academic Affairs in the International Office.
Dr. Gantz's research interests include the pathophysiology, diagnosis, and management of dry eye disease (DED) and meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD), as well as binocular vision. Her work has clarified the links between contact lens wear, lid–gland interactions, and ocular surface health and has contributed to evidence-based management strategies for keratoconus and other complex anterior-segment conditions.
Dr. Gantz has authored more than 35 peer-reviewed papers, serves as an editorial board member of PLOS One, and recently guest edited a special issues on dry eye for the Biomedicines journal.
A dedicated educator and mentor, Dr. Gantz teaches core and advanced courses in binocular vision to B.Optom students and Frontiers in Vision Science to M.Optom students and has earned multiple Excellence in Teaching Awards. She has organized or helped plan over 25 national and international conferences and workshops, advancing professional education on topics ranging from sports vision and neuro-optometric rehabilitation to evidence-based management of dry eye.
