Nino Karanadze
Nino Karanadze graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, Tbilisi State Medical University, Tbilisi, Georgia in 1980. Dr. Karanadze received her Ph.D. degree in Ophthalmology at Tbilisi State Postgraduate Doctor's Training Institute and the Moscow Helmholtz Research Institute of Eye Diseases in 1987. Professor Karanadze has worked at Ophthalmology Department of Tbilisi State Medical University (TSMU) for the last 30 years, is currently an Associate Professor and counsel member of the Faculty of Medicine, and was Deputy Dean of the faculty of Medicine from 2006 until 2016. She is a Co-founder and Director of both the Lions Eye Clinic and the Amnion Transplantation Bank of Georgia. Dr. Karanadze has extensive experience in cornea transplantation as well as immune response in age-related eye diseases such as dry eye, AMD and other inflammatory diseases. She authors 63 scientific pieces and is supervisor of the Ph.D. program ‘Role of cytokines in healthy aging’ at TSMU. She is a member of Georgian Ophthalmological Society, Georgian Association of Transplantologists, Georgian Medical Association where she is considered an Ophthalmology expert, Homotoxycology Society and Tbilisi “Lions Club," Transplantology Council of Ministry of Labor, and Health and Social Affairs of Georgia. She is Scientific Secretary of the transplantology committee of Academy Council of National Academy of Georgia since 2016, and a member of editorial committees of Magazines such as “Biological Medicine” and “Therapy."
