Ozlenen Ömür Uçakhan
Ömür Uçakhan is a Professor of Ophthalmology and Director of the Cornea and Contact Lens Service at Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in Turkey. Dr. Uçakhan obtained her Medical Degree from Hacettepe University School of Medicine (Turkey), completed residency at Ankara University Faculty of Medicine, and did a two-year Cornea and Refractive Surgery fellowship at Mount-Sinai School of Medicine in New York. She attended a phacoemulsification training program in Chennai, India in 2002. Dr. Uçakhan has published over 50 papers in international indexed journals and has written or co-authored several book chapters and monographs. Her main medical interests include corneal and external eye diseases, refractive, cataract, and corneal transplantation surgery, and ocular surface reconstruction. Dr. Uçakhan won the CLAO Young Ophthalmologists Research Award in 1999, best Scientific Poster Award at the 2000 CLAO Meeting, and best free paper award at the 2000 International Ocular Inflammation Society Meeting. Dr. Uçakhan serves as a scientific referee for more than 10 international indexed journals, is an Associate Editor to the “Eye and Contact Lens” and “BMC Ophthalmology” journals, and presently serves as the President of the Commission of Contact Lenses and Optical Devices. Dr. Ucakhan is a member of American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, European Contact Lens Society of Ophthalmology, and the TFOS Dry Eye Workshop II (TFOS DEWS II).
