Stefan Bandlitz
Dr. Stefan Bandlitz is a German optometrist and currently serves as Head of School at the Höhere Fachschule für Augenoptik und Optometrie Köln, (Cologne School of Optometry), Germany. His teaching focuses primarily on contact lenses and the anterior segment of the eye. In addition, he holds positions as Visiting Research Fellow at the College of Health and Life Sciences, Aston University, UK and Visting Lecturer at the University of Applied Sciences, Köln, Germany.
He earned a Master of Science in Clinical Optometry from Salus University in Philadelphia, USA, and went on to complete his PhD in Vision Sciences at Cardiff University, UK. Dr. Bandlitz is a Fellow of the International Association of Contact Lens Educators (FIACLE), the College of Optometrists (FCOptom), and the British Contact Lens Association (FBCLA). He also contributes to the profession as a member of the Qualifications Board of the European Council of Optometry and Optics (ECOO).
With approximately 100 publications—including peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and other scholarly works—he has made substantial contributions to the field. His research focuses on contact lenses, anterior eye imaging, the ocular surface, and the tear film. Additionally, he has delivered over 100 invited and named lectures internationally.
