Victor Caparas
Victor Caparas obtained his ophthalmology training from the University of Philippines, Philippine General Hospital and completed fellowships in cornea/anterior segment at the University of the Philippines Institute of Ophthalmology and the Schepens Eye Research Institute at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Caparas also holds a Masters degree in Public Health from the Harvard School of Public Health and has devoted his professional career to his main interests of dry eye and ocular surface disorders. He is a founding member (and past President) of the Cornea Society of the Philippines, the Philippine Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and the International Ocular Surface Society, and is a member of the Asia Cornea Society and the Asia Dry Eye Society. Dr. Caparas is also member and an Ambassador for the Tear Film & Ocular Surface Society (TFOS), and is one of the few Filipinos who have gained membership to the Cornea Society. He practices at The Medical City in Pasig, Metro Manila, and serves as Director of its Eye and Vision Institute, as well as head of the section of Cornea and External Diseases. Dr. Caparas organized and currently heads the only full-service, modern dry eye clinic in the country at The Medical City. He is frequently asked to lecture around the Philippines and in the Asia region on dry eye and ocular surface disease. Victor lives in Makati, Metro Manila with Lourdes, his spouse of 34 years who is a pediatric dentist.
